UISEE Achieves New Milestone in Airport Autonomous Driving: Haikou Meilan International Airport Launches Hainan Free Trade Port’s First Aviation Logistics Autonomous Driving Demonstration Project
As the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush progresses in full swing, UISEE has achieved another major breakthrough in airport autonomous driving. On February 12, Haikou Meilan International Airport officially launched the first airport aviation logistics autonomous driving demonstration project in Hainan Free Trade Port, marking a new milestone in the intelligent and unmanned transformation of the aviation logistics sector in Hainan Free Trade Port and laying a solid foundation for building a smart logistics airport. The AI Driver, empowered by cutting-edge technology, fully supports the Spring Festival travel rush in the Year of the Horse.
Aviation logistics is characterized by high timeliness requirements and closely connected processes, where the efficiency of ground transportation directly affects the speed of cargo customs clearance and delivery. The traditional manual driving mode is restricted by factors such as personnel scheduling, fatigue levels, and operating hours, making it difficult to avoid efficiency bottlenecks during peak flight periods or night operations.
To support the reliable operation in such complex scenarios, Meilan Airport has introduced the aviation logistics cargo transportation autonomous driving demonstration project. The autonomous driving tractors adopted in the project are equipped with advanced technical configurations, integrating multiple types of sensors including LiDAR, visual cameras, and anti-collision systems to construct a comprehensive environmental perception system. This system can accurately identify vehicles, personnel, equipment, and complex signs within the airport, enabling stable and safe autonomous driving.
Meanwhile, the AI Driver is also equipped with all-weather operation capabilities and cloud-based intelligent dispatching functions, breaking through the time limitations of traditional manual operations and providing key technical support for significantly improving the airport’s cargo turnover efficiency and guarantee capability.

Currently, the innovative aviation logistics autonomous driving project at Meilan Airport has put 4 cargo transportation routes into operation. The autonomous driving tractors can automatically travel to the target cargo terminal along the pre-determined optimal route, and after completing the unloading operation, transport the empty cargo cards back to the designated location via the set route, realizing 7×24-hour uninterrupted operation.
In the future, to meet the growing demand for air cargo guarantee in Hainan Free Trade Port, Meilan Airport plans to add 5 more cargo and baggage transportation routes, as well as airport perimeter patrol services, to achieve seamless transfer between the tarmac and cargo warehouses, among different cargo warehouses, and 24-hour unmanned vehicle patrols along the airport perimeter.
